Amritsar, a city steeped in history and tradition, is not only famous for its iconic Golden Temple but also for its delectable Punjabi cuisine. Rang Punjab is a culinary gem in the heart of this vibrant city that promises an extraordinary dining experience. Recently, I had the privilege of tasting their specially curated menu as part of The Sacred Amritsar 2023’s delegate experience, and I am excited to share my gastronomic journey with you!
As I entered Rang Punjab Amritsar, I was immediately captivated by its warm and inviting ambience. The restaurant exuded rustic charm, with traditional Punjabi artwork adorning the walls and elegant wooden furniture. The bright chandeliers and soft Punjabi melodies playing in the background created a soothing atmosphere, perfect for savouring the flavours to come.
The specially curated menu at Rang Punjab was a carefully crafted culinary symphony, showcasing the rich and robust flavors of Punjab. Each dish was a masterpiece, prepared with precision and passion by skilled chefs.
To start my gastronomic journey, I was served an assortment of sherbets like Bazoori, Doodh Sodha, Brahmi Badam, Lychee Gingerale Soda, Ganna Juice Juice Sorbet and Shardai (Thandai) as well as appetizers like Mushroom Sizzlers and Crispy Corn Aam Papad that gave a delightful introduction to the flavours of Punjab. It was an explosion of taste for sure!
Next, I indulged in their signature Rang Punjab Tasting Platter, a selection of their best dishes bursting with flavours. All the dishes in it were cooked to perfection in the traditional way, infusing them with a rich aroma and taste.

Moving on to the main course, I was presented with an array of mouthwatering dishes like Kujje Wali Dal, Aloo Wadi, Gur Wale Chawal, Kurkuri Bhindi, Loon Mandi De Chole, Sukki Dal, Bharwan Karela, Lachha Palak Soya, Phulkari Pulao creating a harmonious blend of flavours. Paired with Bajre Di Roti and Tandoori Roti, it was an absolute treat for the senses!
The sides were equally impressive. May it be the Lauki Raita, Kanji Salad or Palak Bathu Raita, all of them were complementing the main course extremely well and provided a sense of relief to my taste buds.
No Punjabi meal is complete without a touch of sweetness, and Rang Punjab’s dessert selection did not disappoint. The Lychee Rabri and Fruit Cream won my heart in no team and certainly managed to leave a lasting impression on me!
My culinary journey at Rang Punjab Amritsar was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I stepped foot into the restaurant to the last bite of dessert, every aspect of the experience was carefully curated to showcase the essence of Punjab’s culinary heritage.
